Times Union, October 29, 2021 — National supply chain issues are delaying shipments for Halloween retailers but aren’t slowing down celebrations this year.

Amanda Powers, director of communications and marketing for the New York State Retail Council, agreed. She said Halloween stores, such as Spirit Halloween, will “definitely have some issues going on” whether it be fewer costumes or shipment delays.  Spirit Halloween declined the Times Union’s request for comment.

And amid all the adjustments, there’s a silver lining – Halloween retail is thriving this year.

“The good news here is that Halloween sales, in general, are soaring,” Powers said, pointing to predictions from industry experts indicating total Halloween spending across the country to be over $10 billion, about $2 billion higher than last year.
She similarly noted figures showing individual shoppers are spending over $100 on the holiday.
