New York, May 18, 2023 — Organized retail crime continues to be a major focus for the Retail Council, and our message is resonating. The Retail Council has been an active partner in the creation of an Organized Retail Crime Task Force and will be allowed to appoint one member to the task force.
Last Thursday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams joined several city officials at a press conference to outline his strategy to curtail shoplifting, robberies and organized retail theft in the five boroughs. Retail Council Director of State and Local Government Relations Kelsey Dorado attended the press conference, and President and CEO Melissa O’Connor was quoted in Women’s Wear Daily.
